Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 1, 2026
Tabtile is built to keep what it sees on your Mac. This policy explains what stays on your Mac, what leaves it and why. Questions: [email protected].
What stays on your Mac
To arrange windows, Tabtile reads which apps and windows are open, their positions, sizes and titles. Your presets, desktop and display settings, the window places it restores, and — only if you turn it on — the time you spend in each app are stored in Tabtile's folder on your Mac (~/Library/Application Support/Tabtile). None of this is sent anywhere. With Screen Recording allowed, Tabtile takes pictures of windows only to animate their moves; the pictures stay in memory for the length of the animation and are never saved or sent.
What leaves your Mac
- Your account. Tabtile needs you to sign in with Google. Google gives our server your name, email address and Google account ID. The server keeps them with your purchases and the devices you use Tabtile on: for each one, a random identifier made by Tabtile and the Mac's name, so you can see and remove them in your Tabtile account. If another user adds you to their plan, the server keeps your email address so that the subscription turns on when you sign in; you can leave the plan, and they can remove you.
- Subscription checks. From time to time Tabtile asks our server whether the subscription is active on this Mac, sending its identifier. Without a connection the subscription keeps working for 7 days.
- Update checks. Tabtile asks this website whether a newer version exists. The request includes the app version and the macOS version, like any web request it reveals your IP address, and nothing else.
- Crash reports. If Tabtile crashes or hits an unexpected error, it sends a technical report to Firebase Crashlytics, a Google service: the stack trace, the type of error and the cleaned-up first line of its message, the Mac's model, processor, memory and disk size, the macOS and app versions, and a random identifier made only for these reports and not linked to your account. Window titles and contents, the names of your apps, your name and your email address are kept out of them. Google keeps crash reports for 90 days.
- Usage statistics. Tabtile tells Google Analytics which steps of the first-launch guide you reached, whether signing in worked, when a preset is applied, from where and with how many tiles, how many windows Smart Preset arranged, and when the plans are shown or the payment page is opened, and for which plan. Google Analytics adds what it collects by itself: first launches, sessions and updates, the Mac's model, the macOS version, the language and an approximate location worked out from your IP address. The identifier is the same random one. Window titles, app names, your name and your email address are never sent. Statistics are kept for up to 14 months and are not used for advertising, and sharing them with Google's other products is turned off.
Crash reports and usage statistics are on until you turn them off, each with its own switch: on the first screen of the first-launch guide, or at any time in Settings, under Privacy. With both off, Tabtile sends nothing to Firebase. Like any web request, these requests show Google your IP address; according to Google, Google Analytics uses it for a rough location and to detect spam, and discards it afterwards.
Tabtile shows no advertising.
Purchases
Orders are processed by Dodo Payments, the Merchant of Record. Your card details go to Dodo Payments and never reach us. We receive your name, email address, country and order details to link the purchase to your account and to answer support requests. Dodo Payments' own privacy policy covers the data it processes.
We use your email address only for your account, your orders and replies to your messages. We do not send newsletters unless you ask for them.
This website
This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics. The server may keep standard access logs (IP address, page, time) for security and troubleshooting, for no longer than 30 days.
Sharing
We do not sell or rent personal data. We share it only with Dodo Payments to process orders, with Google to receive crash reports and usage statistics if you leave them on, and when the law requires it. Signing in goes through Google, whose own privacy policy covers what it processes. For crash reports and statistics Google acts as our data processor and may handle them outside your country, including in the United States; Google LLC is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
Your rights
You can ask us to show, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you, or object to its use, by writing to [email protected]. Removing Tabtile's folder from your Mac deletes everything Tabtile stored there. Crash reports and statistics are not linked to your account, so we cannot find yours by your name or email address; the switches in Settings stop them.
Children
Tabtile is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We will post any change to this policy on this page and update the date at the top.
